While the US leaders often have a tendency to "put their foot in their mouth", I found the recent poll on the Japan Times website regarding Japan's own leaders quite interesting. Granted the quotes are all taken out of context, they are rather ummm......
- "Even people with Alzheimer's disease could understand." — Prime Minister Taro Aso, when he was Japan's foreign minister
- A reference to women as "baby-making machines" — former health minister Hakuo Yanagisawa
- The dropping of atomic bombs by the U.S. in World War II "could not be helped." — former Defense Minister Fumio Kyuma
- "It is very difficult to confirm as a historical fact that the 'comfort women' actually existed." — Miyazaki Gov. Hideo Higashikokubaru
- "Japan is an extremely homogenous country." — former education minister Bunmei Ibuki
